Winter Walkabout.... Homestead 2008

On Sunday, 12/21, the first day of winter,
Sugar and I took a walk around the homestead...
This is what we found.

A puddle of water from the inch of rain Saturday night and Sunday morning.
And the ferns totally brown.


The garden barren and mulched over.


The sky grey and the trees devoid of leaves.

The chickens were trying to find a dry spot. Still giving up their precious treasures.

Snuggle up by the roaring fire and have a warm and safe Holiday Season!

How was your Sunday Evening?

What could be more fun that friends and family and a good ole game?

A fairly new game to us is Apples to Apples.
We have a total blast!

The point is to collect a certain number of "green apples".

To get "green apples", you select a "red apple" that you think goes with the "green apple".

The dealer selects the winning "red apple".
This is a word game and very subjective.
It keeps us laughing for hours!

And of course, no evening in Four Oaks is ever complete
without the ever constant friend and companion! SUGAR!
