Today, at the Crown Coliseum, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, approximately 6000 young men of the 3oth Brigade began the final steps for deployment. A deployment ceremony was held this afternoon for the families and friends of the young men headed overseas. Why is this important? Look at the photo below. The young soldier near the center to the left and below the red seat is my son, Kyle(newly married). He is one of those young soldiers who will be with the 30th. Please keep him and all the soldiers in your thoughts and prayers.
Young love and good byes are never easy.

Tough times, I know. I witnessed one of these ceremonies at Fort Campbell, KY for the 101st Airborne when my step-brother was deployed to Iraq several years ago. It's very touching but also fills you with a huge sense of pride (or it did me, at least).
I will keep all of these soldiers in my prayers. I wish them all a safe trip there, a safe tour, and a safe return home.
A reason why I would not let my hubby join the Australian Army, I coulnt bare saying good bye.
I can't imagine-I've never had a family member in the service
i cannot even imagine having to send my husband, or any relative for that matter, off to war. i have so much respect for army families.
Oh man, that last image brought tears to my eyes.
So sad - but so inspiring. Wishing him and his new wife all the good luck and support possible.
I'll be praying for your son and all of the 30th Brigade. What a tough thing to do especially after such happiness.

i agree with you i think its not only difficult but impossible to see them going of and its really have a need for the big heart for going of to your younger son i will pray for him or all of those.
Christina....my tears flow too! For you, for newlyweds...for all of the soldiers and families! It is NOT an easy thing to see and send them off!
Our son has not found work since the big crash in Oct/Nov at the windfarm in ND...he talks that come June, if nothing comes his way, he will reactivate in the USMC. Now, he is inactive reserve ready...he's done enough time!...speaking as his Mother..

i can feel your pain because its really hard to going off of your lover but i appreciate that people who did this and my all prayers with all to them.
it is the work having the the big heart to see their young son to going off.it should need a great courage.
Wow - I had no idea there was a deployment ceremony. My husband was a combat medic who was (thankfully) honorably discharged before he was ever deployed.
we see that a lot around here (Ft. Sill) - people are going to school as well as basic training. Hard to see people sitting in the stands, since they're all dressed the same...
So how is everyone doing? Keeping in touch? Staying safe?
